Friday October 25, 2013 “Consider Jesus”

Hebrews 12:2-4 “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.”
To avoid discouragement consider Jesus who suffered on the cross for our sins.  He died for those who were hostile toward Him.  Consider the Lord’s willingness to lay down His life for those who hated Him.
We are called to not only love our neighbors but also our enemies.  We can only do this when we consider the sacrifice Jesus made for us – while we were yet sinners.  We were blinded by our sin but Jesus loved us and opened our eyes to His goodness and kindness.
Can we pray in agreement today that we consider Jesus as we travel this road called life with its bumps and curves.  Our prayers should include the truth that in this world we will suffer tribulation for the truth’s sake but we can find strength and grace as we consider Jesus’ example of enduring suffering for righteousness sake.  And also intercede for those who do us wrong as we read Jesus did at God’s right hand (verse 2).
