We Are The People

Isaiah 58:6 “⁶ Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?”

The prophet speaks of fasting that will undo or release people from heavy burdens.  The heaviest burden in life is sin unconfessed and not repented.

Jesus said simply, “Come to me you who are burdened and laden down with sin and I will give you rest.”

Today let our prayer focus be for Americans to see Jesus as the answer to all of their problems and fears about life and eternity.  In Matthew’s Gospel we read that the Angel told both Mary and Joseph, “Call the baby ‘Jesus’ for He will save man from sin.”
