We Are The People

Matthew 5:3 “³ “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

The beatitudes do not reflect what the culture deems as being blessed.  Jesus it seems is telling us that divine blessings rest upon people when the rest of humanity considers one’s situation unhappy and even hopeless.  Jesus calls the poor in spirit (broken), the meek and hungry, blessed.  Why?  Because there is found in bankruptcy of life a path that leads to the pursuit of true riches.

Let us pray today that those who find themselves in bad situations begin to see through eyes of faith that Jesus sees them in a “good place” for they are closer to understanding and realizing the blessings of God’s Kingdom’s great reversals of fortune.
